ABOUT LOUISE LANE

Louise Lane is the alter ego of Julie Smissaert, a creative force blending art, design, and interior styling. With a Master’s in Industrial Design and experience as Marketing Manager at Obumex and Televic, she developed a keen eye for aesthetics. Her artworks, exhibited at Obumex, Motel Moteur, and Patrick Pontseele, bring a timeless and powerful presence to interiors.

Working mainly in black and white, Louise creates depth and movement through layered textures, embracing the philosophy that restriction brings freedom, much like Soulages’ love for black ink. Her playful, caricatured figures invite personal interpretation—turn them, and new shapes emerge. Each piece carries a bold name, a symbolic guardian for any home.​
